Assistant Controller

Location: Chicago, Illinois Type: Direct Hire Job #28299 Salary: $165,000 Summary IFG US’s client is seeking an Assistant Controller for a fully remote opportunity! Reporting to the VP & Controller, the Assistant Controller plays a crucial role in ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the day-to-day processes of the Accounting Operations team. In this position, you will play a key part in the growth and development of the Accounting Ops group by leading with integrity and purpose. The Assistant Controller works cross-departmentally to ensure proper alignment with policies and controls for financial reporting in accordance with US GAAP. This individual will oversee a team of managers and directors responsible for the functional areas of Accounting, Accounts Payable, Billing, Collections, and Credit. Responsibilities: Leading the execution of the recurring financial month-end close process, including review of journal entries, reconciliations, reporting, and ensuring completion in an accurate and timely manner Leading technical accounting research, including all new and proposed accounting standards, and preparing technical accounting memos Partnering with the Controller and Accounting Manager on the year-end external audit Overseeing the preparation of US GAAP financial statements and footnotes and other external reporting deliverables Providing oversight and review of customer billing, accounts payable, collections, credit risk, treasury, and working capital management Identifying and implementing opportunities for process improvement and implementing change to increase efficiency, streamline workflow, and controls Partnering with the FP&A team to analyze actual financial results compared to annual budget and quarterly forecasts. Assisting with the initial implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Company’s system of internal controls. Plant Controller

Location: Wheeling, IL Type: Direct Hire Job #28082 Salary: $140,000 IFG's client, a medical manufacturer in the Northwest Suburbs, is seeking a Plant Controller. Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Controller, the Plant Controller will have broad leadership responsibilities including optimizing how the facility uses its systems, owning cost accounting & profitability analytics, maintaining the control environment, working capital optimization, and tracking and generating ideas to improve the business performance overall.  Responsibilities: Perform monthly closing of financials for the facility in accordance with GAAP, with full income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow responsibility for plant location in accordance with the central finance/accounting team/policies such us accruals, journal entry preparation, variance analysis. Assures policies are being followed in accordance with SOX, GAAP and Corporate Policy. Inventory accuracy, control, and analytics including obsolescence and DIO to drive improvement. Drive cost accounting reviews, monitor, and analyze production standards and variances. Accurately forecasting the sales & profitability of the location, product line, and value streams. Experience driving accountability and countermeasures when goals are not being achieved. Experience proactively suggesting and implementing KPI’s, controls, and reporting to assist a business with identifying and consequently improving problem areas. Provides operational support with capital equipment authorization, asset management and inventory control (cycle count process). Prepares monthly plant forecast. Proactively identify and drive various special projects to improve margins, processes, and competitive positions in the marketplace. These may include projects focused on efficiency and effectiveness in “other functions” Own the costing processes, actionable variance analysis. Coordinating and owning the site audits, both internal and 3rd party. Action oriented, and enjoys walking the operations floor and being hands-on. Fixed Assets, safeguarding & tracking. Ad hoc reporting as requested from internal stakeholders.   Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in accounting. CPA preferred. 12+ years’ experience in Finance and Accounting for manufacturing companies, with a minimum of 4 years hands on cost accounting experience. Strong detail and process aptitude, analytical with problem-solving skills. Intuitive understanding of ERP processes, usage, & impacts (must have strong systems aptitude).
