Tax Partner
Location: Chicago, IL Type: Direct Hire Job #28109 Tax Partner IFG’s public accounting firm client has recently grown significantly from a standalone office to multiple locations. In this time the staff has more than quadrupled. They have a diverse client base, revenue between $1M – $500M with a national footprint. This growth has led to a need. They are looking for a professional to head up their tax practice. Ideally it would be a senior manager at a larger or mid-size firm looking to make the jump to becoming an equity or income partner sooner, but it could also be a sole practitioner or smaller firm looking to “merge” in. The focus for the role would be the right fit culturally and personality-wise. There is a balance between technical acumen and entrepreneurial spirit that is vital to success in this role. On any given day as a leader at a small company you can empty the dishwasher or make firm-wide tax policy decisions. You need to be able to think in the big picture, but also be humble enough to roll up your sleeves and get work done. Description: IFG’s public accounting firm client seeks to find a highly motivated and entrepreneurial Tax Partner to join their practice and lead the buildout of a scalable tax practice. This entails understanding and servicing the current client base, business development to add additional clients and value, and hiring and managing a team to assist in the execution of deliverables. The Tax Partner should bring with them business acumen as well as managerial excellence. They should be a builder and a strategic thinker. Responsibilities: Responsible for engagement planning and execution Work cross-functionally and with clients on business structuring, mergers & acquisitions, and miscellaneous tax advisory projects Responsible for tax returns issuance and ensuring compliance with professional guidelines Prepare and review partnership, corporation and high-net-worth individuals state and federal income tax returns Monitor legislative and regulatory tax law developments, communicate the effects of these developments to management and the tax team and create strategies to capitalize on changes to taxation legislation. Perform tax planning strategies and consultations for high-net-worth individuals and businesses.
