Senior Tax Accountant
Location: Chicago (or Burbs), IL Type: Direct Hire Job #28505 Salary: $85,000 Senior Tax Associate – Public Accounting A respected and growing public accounting firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Tax Associate to join its tax practice. This is a full-time, hybrid role that offers exposure to a broad range of clients and tax scenarios in both Federal and State & Local Tax (SALT) areas. Key Responsibilities Prepare individual, partnership, corporate, and fiduciary tax returns. Assist with documentation and client file maintenance procedures. Research and analyze federal and state tax matters to ensure compliance. Contribute to tax planning strategies and provide required analysis. Draft responses to tax notices, audits, and related matters from federal and state agencies. Support the tax team with ongoing client engagements and project management. Collaborate with other departments, including wealth management professionals, to deliver integrated client solutions. Stay current with changes in tax laws through continuing education. Review your work for accuracy and quality. Apply feedback for personal development and growth. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field. 2–4 years of public accounting or equivalent tax experience. CPA, JD, or EA preferred (or actively pursuing). Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with QuickBooks and tax preparation software (e.g., UltraTax) is a plus. Strong communication and organizational skills. Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Work Schedule Generally, 40–45 hours/week outside of the busy season. Heavier workloads during tax season. Work Environment Hybrid schedule with in-office presence expected at least 3 days per week.
