Senior Tax Associate – Public Accounting
A respected and growing public accounting firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Tax Associate to join its tax practice. This is a full-time, hybrid role that offers exposure to a broad range of clients and tax scenarios in both Federal and State & Local Tax (SALT) areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare individual, partnership, corporate, and fiduciary tax returns.
  • Assist with documentation and client file maintenance procedures.
  • Research and analyze federal and state tax matters to ensure compliance.
  • Contribute to tax planning strategies and provide required analysis.
  • Draft responses to tax notices, audits, and related matters from federal and state agencies.
  • Support the tax team with ongoing client engagements and project management.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including wealth management professionals, to deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Stay current with changes in tax laws through continuing education.
  • Review your work for accuracy and quality.
  • Apply feedback for personal development and growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 2–4 years of public accounting or equivalent tax experience.
  • CPA, JD, or EA preferred (or actively pursuing).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with QuickBooks and tax preparation software (e.g., UltraTax) is a plus.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Work Schedule

  • Generally, 40–45 hours/week outside of the busy season.
  • Heavier workloads during tax season.

Work Environment

  • Hybrid schedule with in-office presence expected at least 3 days per week.
  • Office is conveniently located near public transportation in northwest Chicago.
