Audit Manager
IFG US' public accounting client is seeking an experienced Audit Manager to oversee client engagements, lead high-performing teams, and serve as a trusted advisor to clients. This role is ideal for a CPA with strong public accounting experience who enjoys managing complex engagements, mentoring staff, and developing long-term client relationships.
You will play a key role in ensuring quality delivery, improving operational efficiency, and identifying opportunities for business growth and expanded services.
Key Responsibilities
As an Audit & Accounting Manager, you will:
- Manage the overall execution of client engagements, including staffing, budgets, timelines, deliverables, and overall performance.
- Review workpapers, financial statements, and tax returns for accuracy, completeness, and compliance prior to senior-level review.
- Supervise and evaluate in-charge accountants and supervisors, ensuring performance feedback and development plans are completed.
- Mentor and develop team members throughout engagements, supporting technical growth and career progression.
- Manage client relationships year-round, serving as a trusted advisor beyond the engagement cycle.
- Develop a deep understanding of clients’ businesses, industries, and key stakeholders to provide proactive insights and recommendations.
- Identify opportunities to expand service offerings and deliver additional value to clients.
- Oversee engagement scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation to improve efficiency, realization, and utilization.
- Build and maintain a strong referral network, including relationships with bankers and other business professionals.
- Support business development efforts by identifying new opportunities and strengthening existing client relationships.
- Participate in special projects and other client engagements, including agreed-upon procedures as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- Active CPA license required.
- 5+ years of public accounting experience, preferably within a mid-market firm.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Manager-level role.
- Strong experience managing audit, accounting, and/or tax engagements.
- Proven ability to supervise, mentor, and develop professional staff.
- Strong client relationship management skills with a focus on long-term partnership building.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for client service and business development.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to client and office locations as needed.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and leadership skills.
