Accounting Consultant
Location: Elmwood Park, Illinois Type: Contract Job #28717 Salary: $45-$90 [Per Hour] Consultant – Accounting Systems & Finance Process Improvement IFG-US is seeking an experienced consultant to support key finance and accounting initiatives for a food manufacturer in the western suburbs of Chicago. This role will focus on improving accounting processes, strengthening cost accounting practices, optimizing shared services operations, and supporting the transition to an upgraded ERP. Key Responsibilities: Assess and improve month-end close processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness. Review and enhance cost accounting methodologies, inventory accounting processes, and related financial controls. Evaluate and streamline shared services functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting processes, to improve service levels, standardization, and operational efficiency. Identify opportunities for process automation, workflow optimization, and continuous improvement across finance and shared services activities. Partner with accounting, operations, and IT teams to identify process improvement opportunities and implement best practices. Support the migration from a legacy system to a cloud-based ERP, including process design, data validation, testing, and user adoption. Develop documentation, procedures, and training materials for new processes and systems. Provide project management and change management support throughout the implementation lifecycle. Qualifications: Proven experience in accounting, finance transformation, and process improvement. Strong knowledge of month-end close, cost accounting, inventory accounting, shared services operations, and financial reporting. Experience with ERP implementations. Demonstrated success driving process standardization, automation, and operational improvements. Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills. CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional experience preferred. Experience with systems such as Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor, Business Central, etc. preferred.
