A growing commercial construction organization is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support the financial administration of construction projects from planning through completion. This role partners closely with project teams and internal stakeholders to maintain accurate project financials, support reporting and forecasting efforts, and ensure efficient accounting processes across multiple active projects.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and enjoys collaborating with cross-functional teams to support successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor project budgets, costs, financial performance, and overall project accounting activities.
  • Assist with financial forecasting, reporting, and analysis to support project and business objectives.
  • Manage financial records and ensure accuracy of project-related accounting documentation.
  • Collaborate with project teams and internal departments to maintain up-to-date project information and financial data.
  • Process invoices, payments, purchase orders, and other project-related transactions.
  • Prepare billing documentation and support customer invoicing processes.
  • Track project commitments, contract changes, and cost activity throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support month-end and year-end accounting activities.
  • Maintain compliance with contractual, insurance, and project documentation requirements.
  • Respond to inquiries related to project accounting, billing, and financial information.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, reporting, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Two or more years of accounting, project accounting, or related experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting construction projects or project-based organizations preferred.
  • Familiarity with project costing, billing processes, contract administration, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting or ERP systems.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with project accounting, construction management, or ERP software platforms.
  • Understanding of project-based work environments and construction project lifecycles.
  • Ability to analyze financial information and communicate findings effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving, prioritization, and time management capabilities.
