IFG US is partnering with a real estate company in Chicago looking to add a valued member to their team. The ideal candidate for this role will have 2+ years of experience, all within real estate property accounting. The company/culture operates on a very entrepreneurial mindset, so they need candidates that operate at a high level.
They operate on a hybrid model of three days a week in the office (Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday).
Compensation is $65K – $80K base plus a 5% bonus (historically paid out at 100%).
Responsibilities
- Manage the full-cycle accounting process for an assigned portfolio of real estate properties.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow reports, and supporting schedules.
- Maintain the general ledger by recording journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, and other accounting transactions in accordance with GAAP.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable subledgers to ensure financial accuracy.
- Monitor cash activity and assist with cash management reporting.
- Produce variance analyses and investigate fluctuations in financial performance.
- Prepare detailed account reconciliations and supporting workpapers for month-end and year-end close.
- Coordinate the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process while consistently meeting reporting deadlines.
- Process tenant receipts, review rental billings, maintain rent rolls, and reconcile CAM and other property-related charges.
- Prepare lender reporting packages and other financial reports required by external stakeholders.
- Partner with Property Management, Asset Management, and Operations teams to resolve accounting issues, interpret financial results, and improve reporting accuracy.
- Support annual budgeting, forecasting, audit engagements, and other financial planning initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 2+ years of professional accounting experience; real estate or property accounting experience is preferred.
- Experience working with Yardi or another property management/accounting ERP system is an advantage.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
