Position Overview
The Senior Accountant will support financial close, reporting, analysis, internal controls, audit activities, and continuous process improvement. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, analytical ability, cross-functional collaboration, and the judgment to resolve complex accounting and reporting matters independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute and support monthly and quarterly financial close activities, ensuring transactions and journal entries are accurate, complete, and recorded on time.
- Maintain and evaluate internal accounting controls and recommend enhancements when processes or requirements change.
- Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly financial reports, management reporting, and supporting schedules.
- Investigate account variances, identify financial trends, analyze large data sets, and determine root causes.
- Prepare, review, and maintain account reconciliations and supporting documentation.
- Develop recommendations for accounting adjustments, reporting enhancements, and process improvements.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve accounting and financial reporting issues.
- Provide financial information and analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, business planning, regulatory requirements, and management decisions.
- Present financial results, trends, and analysis to management and other stakeholders.
- Evaluate existing accounting processes and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, automation, and scalability.
- Leverage technology, data analytics, automation, and emerging tools to improve accounting and reporting processes.
- Participate in accounting, systems, automation, regulatory, and other special projects.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing requested documentation, schedules, analyses, and responses.
- Assist with regulatory reporting and respond to information requests from regulatory agencies and external stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- MBA with a concentration in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA certification.
- Public accounting experience.
- 4–7 years of relevant accounting, financial reporting, or related experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and applicable regulations, including U.S. GAAP and SOX/internal control requirements.
- Experience preparing accounting workpapers, financial disclosures, reconciliations, and technical accounting documentation.
