Primary Responsibilities
- Monthly and Quarterly Financial Close (25%) — Execute and support the monthly and quarterly financial close processes, ensuring financial activity is recorded completely, accurately, and within established deadlines. Maintain effective Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls and identify opportunities or requirements for control enhancements.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis (20%) — Develop monthly and quarterly financial reports and supporting analyses for internal and external reporting purposes. Investigate variances, identify trends across financial data—including large and complex datasets—determine underlying causes, and recommend appropriate adjustments or improvements. Prepare, review, and evaluate account reconciliations.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration and Communication (20%) — Partner with teams across the organization to proactively identify and resolve accounting matters and support planning, forecasting, regulatory activities, and business decisions. Communicate and present financial and operating results to leadership when required.
- Process Improvement and Special Projects (20%) — Evaluate existing accounting processes and procedures and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness through technology and other innovative solutions. Contribute to special projects involving process enhancements, automation, regulatory changes, and updates to accounting requirements.
- Audit and Regulatory Support (15%) — Work with internal and external auditors to provide information and assistance throughout audit activities. Support regulatory reporting and related data requests, including coordination with external parties when necessary.
Job Scope
- Manage day-to-day responsibilities related to the monthly and quarterly financial close.
- Ensure accounting transactions are processed accurately and on schedule.
- Evaluate existing processes and collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to identify improvements, achieve objectives, and resolve complex issues.
- Handle diverse and challenging assignments that require sound judgment, initiative, problem-solving, and the ability to determine appropriate courses of action.
- Contribute to a collaborative team environment and support organizational values related to employee development, diversity and inclusion, innovation, and community involvement.
- Work independently with limited supervision while providing situational leadership, coaching, and mentoring to less experienced team members.
- The position may occasionally require overtime, weekend work, and limited business travel.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 4–7 years of relevant professional experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounting concepts, principles, practices, and applicable regulations, including FASB/GAAP and SOX requirements.
- Ability to clearly document complex accounting matters through workpapers, disclosures, and technical or accounting memoranda.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the capacity to evaluate financial data and apply sound judgment across a variety of situations.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage technology to improve accounting processes and operational efficiency.
- Strong team-building, communication, and leadership capabilities.
- Demonstrated project management experience.

Preferred Qualifications
- MBA with a concentration in Accounting or Finance.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Experience in public accounting.
- Experience with regulatory, utility, FERC, SEC, or energy-industry reporting.
- Knowledge of analytical tools and artificial intelligence applications used to improve accounting processes, reporting, and financial analysis.
